Storytime

Join us for Wednesday Wigglers on Wednesday mornings at 10 am!

Geared toward ages 0-4, storytime includes songs and fingerplays, stories (of course), and activities.  Sometimes we meet out on our south lawn, and sometimes we use our classroom.

Early Literacy

You can practice early literacy skills with your pre-reader at home, too!  The Kansas State Library promotes “6 by 6,” or six skills that will promote reading by age six:

  • Have Fun with Books
  • Notice Print All Around You
  • Talk, Talk, Talk
  • Look for Letters Everywhere
  • Tell Stories About Everything
  • Take Time to Rhyme

The Hesston Public Library has plenty of books, DVDs, and even toys and activity kits* to help you and your child practice these skills.

*Ask staff at the desk about borrowing our 6×6 early literacy kits or storypack backpacks.
