Please visit us at 300 N. Main Street in Hesston. You will need to provide a driver’s license number or Social Security Card number for your card. For minors under 18, an adult with legal guardianship will be required to sign the card form, as well as provide a driver’s license number or Social Security Card number.
You can fill out the form, and a librarian will process your form while you wait. You will be issued a library card, and will also have access to e-books and audiobooks through the Libby app within 24-hours.

Books – 3 weeks with two renewals as long as the book is not on hold.
Audiobooks on CD – 3 weeks with two renewals as long as the audiobook on CD is not on hold.
DVDs – 1 week
Games & toys – 1 week
Wifi Hotspots – 1 week
Tools – 1 week
Fishing Rods & Other Outdoor Recreation Equipment – 1 week
Expedition Packs – 3 days
Magazines – 3 days
Puzzles – No due date

There are fines on Hotspots and Expedition Packs. Fines for both are $5 per day. After 1 week of not returning either a hotspot or Expedition Pack, your account will be assessed the full value of the device or membership in addition to the daily fines.
Books and other materials are fine-free.
If an item is not returned three weeks after the last due date, the value of the item will be assessed to your account. If the item is returned in good condition, and a replacement item has not been ordered, the fine will be waived from your account.

You can also make recommendations by logging into your library account.
Click “Catalog & Account” or tap the “Our Collection icon”
Select “My Account”
In the dropdown menu, select “Loans/Reserves/Fines.”
A side menu will appear
Select “Purchase Suggestions” for items not in our collection.
To reserve an item in our collection select “Reserves”
To reserve a title, search for the title name or type of book in the search bar.
Once you have found the title, on the right side, select “Reserve”

From Mobile
Tap “Our Collection”
Your username is your full 14-digit library card number
Your password is the last 4 digits of the phone number associated with your card.

From Desktop
Click “Catalog & Account” or “Our Collection”
Your username is your full 14-digit library card number

How to search for an item
On Desktop: Select “Catalog & Account” or “Our Collection”
On Mobile: Select “Our Collection.”
You can search for items in the collection without logging into your library account.
To reserve an item, you must be logged into your account.

How to view items currently out on your account
Log into your library account.
Select “My Account”
Select “Loans/Reserves/Fines”
Select “Items Out”

How to request a renewal on items
Log into your library account
Select “My Account”
Select “Loans/Reserves/Fines
Select “Items Out”
On the far right side select “Renew” for individual items or “Renew All”
If a renewal is denied, you have either reached your maximum renewals, or another patron has requested the item.

How to change your password
Log into your library account.
Select “My Account”
Select “My Bio”
On the far right side, select “Change password”
Enter your current password – the default is the last 4 digits of the phone number associated with your account
Enter your new password

How to download Libby for Android

Go to the Google Play Store on your device and search Libby by Overdrive
When you open the Libby app for the first time, it will ask if you have a library card.
Select Yes
If you have already installed the Libby app on another device, select Copy From Another Device and follow the instructions.
If this is a new installation select Search For A Library
Enter 67062 as the zip code
Select Hesston Public Library
You will be taken to the Sunflower E Library consortium.
Select Sign In With My Card
Select Hesston Public Library
You will then enter your 14-digit library card number
Select Sign In
If you are asked for a password, it is the last four digits of the phone number associated with your library card.
You will have the option to rename your card. Once you are ready, select Next
When downloading for Android, select Skip when prompted if you are reading on Kindle.

Libby Navigation basics

Navigation Icons are located along the bottom of the screen.
Magnifying Glass – Search – look for individual titles
Building – Library – browse the collection
Three horizontal lines – Menu – your account and settings
Stack of books – Shelf – your checkouts and holds
Clock – Timeline – your checkouts history

How to borrow digital content

Select the Search icon
In the search box, enter the specific title you are looking for
If you would like to browse the collection instead, select the Library icon.

Once you have found a title, select it to see details.
If it is available for checkout, it will say Borrow next to it.
Other wise it will say Place Hold next to it.

Once you have selected Borrow, select Borrow again at the bottom of the screen
You will also see the checkout time at the bottom of the screen.
The image of the book will appear. To begin reading select Open Book

How to return digital content

Titles will be returned automatically at their due date, regardless if you have finished reading or listening to content.
To return an item before it is due
Select Shelf
Select Manage Loan
Select Return Early
Select the red Return

How to renew digital content

If there is not a hold on the title, you will have the option to renew your loan 2 days before it is due.
Select Shelf
Select Manage Loan
Select Renew Loan
Select the red Renew
Note: If you are unable to renew your title, you will see the option to Place Hold. If you select this, it will put you in the line to get the title again after it has been returned.
