Hesston Public Library is committed to continuing to be a safe, welcoming place to connect people to information, ideas and one another for enjoyment and lifelong learning.

At Hesston Public Library, our commitment to our patrons is to be a hub of the community, rooted in sharing perspectives, fostering healthy community dialogue, enriching lives and providing an equitable platform to access materials, information and experiences.

Since 1937, the library has carefully and thoughtfully curated a collection, guided by policy, that is representative of the community. This wide collection of materials enriches the lives of all patrons. The library has expanded beyond books to meet the wide-ranging needs of patrons. We embrace diversity, ensuring that everyone in Hesston and surrounding areas of Harvey County feels respected, included and represented in our collection.

As a library, we strive to foster intellectual curiosity, and provide a safe environment where inquiring minds encounter original and sometimes unorthodox ideas – vital elements in a society that thrives on freedom of thought and expression. Our commitment extends beyond the shelves, actively supporting educational, civic, and cultural activities that contribute to the well-being of our community.

Embracing technology, we serve as a research and reference point, providing access to information through contemporary means. Our dedication to continuous education knows no bounds, offering opportunities and encouragement for people of all ages and backgrounds to educate themselves. We strive to serve the whole person, recognizing the importance of recreation through literature, music, films, and other art forms.

In our pursuit of a stronger, more united and enriched community, we continually identify needs and develop programs to meet them. We collaborate with other organizations, agencies, and institutions, understanding the strength that comes from working together.

At Hesston Public Library we not only provide a space for personal growth and exploration, but also stand as a pillar of inclusivity, respect, and cultural richness for our community.
