TALK Discussion of “Caramelo”

Hesston Public Library will host a TALK Book Discussion Series on the topic of contemporary immigration, with three sessions beginning March 1.

A different book will be discussed each evening, facilitated by a discussion leader provided by the Kansas Humanities Council, which is sponsoring the series. TALK stands for Talk About Literature in Kansas.

Participants are welcome to attend any and all sessions, and there is no charge for participation.

“This is a wonderful way for people in the community to gather and examine a timely topic through the eyes of literature,” said Cari Cusick, library director.

Schedule for the sessions is:

  • March 1, 2012 • 6:30 p.m.
    Discussion of “Caramelo”
Discussion leader: Kim Stanley from McPherson College
  • March 29, 2012 • 6:30 p.m.

Discussion leader: Martha Ortiz Sanchez from Wichita State University
  • April 26, 2012 • 6:30 p.m.

Welcome to another great installment of

We have a fun photo challenge for today's #MondayMystery! And it should be fairly quick, too, because the whole point is that it doesn't have to be good!
We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Using only things laying around your house, make a costume that goes with a good book. Then pose with the book and share the picture with us!

If you need inspiration, eBooks totally count, too!

(And if you're feeling camera shy, feel free to dress up a reluctantly cooperative pet, or even a stuffed animal or statue!)

We ❤️ Sandra Boynton!
The cow does get a little help from a couple of friends. All practicing proper social distancing, of course!

🙋‍♀️ You may have noticed that we've been having some fun with emojis in our posts, lately. ☺️ What's YOUR most-used emoji? ❓📱💻🙂🙃🙂🙃😄
