Have a reluctant reader?
Children who have difficulties reading may be self-conscious when reading aloud in front of others; however, a dog is a non-judgmental listener.
Reading to a dog provides a relaxed atmosphere, which allows participants to practice reading skills. It also builds self-esteem and confidence and provides an environment for children to connect reading with a positive association. The presence of a dog provides an opportunity for struggling readers to develop skills and discover the fun of reading.
HESSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
PRESCHOOL STORY TIME 2014-15
Summertime is almost over and it’s time to start thinking of fall activities. The Hesston Public Library would like to invite you to come listen to stories about bears and their friends. We’ll read stories, sing songs, chant rhymes and do other fun activities.
Story time meets every Wednesday through May 20, except for the following holidays and spring break: There will be no story hour on Nov 26, Dec 24 & 29, and March 18.
Please register at the library so we know how many children to expect. I can’t wait to see you all in September!
