Geocaching Challenge

Join us on THE worldwide treasure hunt! Locate and log 3 geocaches between September 21 and October 19 to be entered in a prize drawing.  For bonus entries, locate more caches, create your own cache, and check out library materials related to maps and treasure hunts.*  Visit or contact the library to fill out a raffle ticket for each entry.

We will conduct spot checks of logs to confirm accuracy.  Please respect the laws and rules of all properties you explore, be safe, and have fun!

Wait… what is geocaching?

See below for introductory videos.  And visit https://www.geocaching.com and/or download the free official Geocaching app to create an account and get started.

But basically, you navigate to particular hidden items using a smartphone and the app or a traditional GPS device, and log that you have found them.  They are hidden all over our town, county, and beyond.

*First entry:
Create a Geocaching account at geocaching.com or in the official Geocaching app. Find and log three caches between September 21 and October 19.

Additional entry:
Find and log two more caches. Repeat as many times as you can before the deadline.

Additional entry:
Create, hide, and upload your own geocache according to the Geocaching community instructions.

Additional entry:
Check out library materials related to geocaching (Maps! Treasure hunt stories! Something else! …Just convince the librarians it’s related!). Repeat as many times as you can before the deadline.
