Seuss-a-bration Family Fun Night

Preschool through elementary school children and their parents and siblings are invited to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a special Seuss-a-bration Family Fun Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Hesston Public Library, 300 N. Main St.

Various activities will be set up throughout the library, including Sight Word Bingo, a Book Walk, crafts, and more! Children will be able to move through the activities at their own pace and should bring their parents or other adults to the festivities.

Registration is required by 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, by emailing hesstonpubliclibrary@gmail.com or calling the library at 620.327.4666. See you on the 2nd!

TALK Discussion of “Caramelo”

Hesston Public Library will host a TALK Book Discussion Series on the topic of contemporary immigration, with three sessions beginning March 1.

A different book will be discussed each evening, facilitated by a discussion leader provided by the Kansas Humanities Council, which is sponsoring the series. TALK stands for Talk About Literature in Kansas.

Participants are welcome to attend any and all sessions, and there is no charge for participation.

“This is a wonderful way for people in the community to gather and examine a timely topic through the eyes of literature,” said Cari Cusick, library director.

Schedule for the sessions is:

Mobile App for E-books now available

The State Library of Kansas e-book collection is now available via mobile app for iPad/iPod touch/Android phones and similar devices. (The downloadable website, for use with e-readers, Nook Color, and Nook Touch is supposed to be live within a week.)
